Pause & Reflect (The List)

It’s another super busy weekend with work and school, but I’m taking a moment to pause and reflect back on this last week. All I have to say is I’m very thankful :]

Surprise flowers & the cutest anniversary card(s) :]

Nerdy wine to start off our anniversary weekend with a picnic on the beach at sunset.
It has O-Chem equations on the label and cork, how could we not buy it?

Random surprises in the mail. J gave me a Kindle last weekend for our anniversary, and to keep the presents coming, I arrived home from work on Tuesday to find two packages of accessories waiting for me. A TARDIS skin and a cat fabric case for the Kindle. :]

A random new shirt (also from J – he spoiled me like crazy this last weekend :] hehe) from Superdry. Superdry Lumberjack Twill (see here). It’s super soft and the perfect shirt to throw on with a pair of jean shorts for the breezy yet warm days we’re having right now.

And of course a list of the great places we ate this last weekend. We did a lot of snacking on our picnic foods (Boursin cheese, hard salami, French bread, & blueberries make the best meals at any time of day), but we did manage to make it to a few places for delicious food.

Zachary’s – absolutely recommend the Corned Beef Hash & Oatmeal Molasses Toast, Sourdough Pancakes, Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake, & Zach’s Bennie. We indulged and ate more food than we needed, but it was all delicious! Well worth the hour of walking we had to do afterwards in order to digest.

Monterey’s Fish House – Worth the drive down from Aptos. We had delicious scallops in a cream sauce that were a special of the day, along with the Holiday Pasta which is a tomato-clam broth/sauce with tons of seafood. I have to say, I’m not a huge fan of fish in my tomato sauce, but the clams, mussels, and squid were all quite tasty. Tip: Make reservations or just put your name at the bar – you’ll get seated faster.

A W Shuck’s – I’m not quite sure how we found this place. We were disappointed because the kitchen was already closed and we had our hearts set on some oysters. But we were in luck, the chef was still there and said he would make an exception since all we wanted were oysters. We got half a dozen and were pleased with the variety. They were all very tasty. They tout that they have the best bloody mary’s there but I thought they were only so-so, but perhaps that’s me. I like a spicy bloody mary personally.

OB Chicken – it’s a thing, we always have to eat here when he visits. Lol. All I can say is chicken. See below.

Mmm. Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken. So delicious.

Yes, thankful for a wonderful year & an even better one ahead.

Cheers to the weekend!
